Every year I get super excited about the Sephora VIB sale! Although I probably have enough makeup to last a lifetime, I am a sucker for “deals” and the phrase “value set” makes me go slightly crazy. Although most beauty brands have year-round sales including family sale, Black Friday, etc., there are items that are often excluded from the discounts. However, the great thing about Sephora is the sale is applicable to EVERYTHING (even perfumes!) on the site AND you can accumulate VIB points with your purchases so that you can later trade them in for deluxe samples of new things which you may not have tried otherwise.
This year, instead of going too crazy and buying up all the cute holiday sets, I stuck to tried and tested products that are dear to my heart and a few new items that I have done extensive online research on and have been coveting for more than just a few days.
My picks for the sale are as follow:
OLD FAVES
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum -1.07 oz/50ml (US$94.00)
This is THE BEST SCENT IN THE WORLD. I have been using this classic perfume for the past 9 or 10 years. It’s quite a heavy scent that lasts on the skin for a very long time. I LOVE IT. I always get compliments from when I wear this scent and I have not met a guy who didn’t love it as well. I love wearing this at night when I am going out. I feel like I attract people with it because it smells so rich and sexy. I have reproached this perfume a million times. I often the the travel twist sprays at dutyfree when I travel. The twist ones are very convenient and I own several of them which I keep in different purses. The only downside is that the small refillable bottles comes in EXTREMELY thin and delicate glass. I have accidentally broken a few by dropping on floor when trying to refill. It’s very rare to find Chanel perfume on discount, so I am exciting to get anew bottle. I saw that Sephora also began carrying the twist travel bottle, however it was out of stock so I decided to get the 50ml bottle instead.
Kat Von D Shade + Light Face Contour Refillable Palette (US$49.00)
I have purchased this palette before. I Have hit pan on all of the colors, and because there is hardly anything left, the sides of the pans are starting to crack. I love the buttery and bendable powders and the neutral contour shades are great for both contour and eyeshadow. I love that the palette comes with a mirror and I often bring this palette when travel and use the mirror to apply my makeup. This is a HOLY GRAIL product for me and I look forward to receiving a new one in the new refillable palette.
Tarte Colored Clay CC Undereye Corrector Light-Medium (US$24.00)
I originally purchased this product under the recommendation of Youtuber Lisasz09. I suffer from extremely dark under eyes and this product is great for brightening and masking my dark circles. It is quite thick and I find that I go through this product quite quickly because I end up picking up more than I probably need each time I dip my finger into the product. I have repurchased this about 3 times, and I the one currently in my possession is basically nonexistent. On days where I don’t want to wear any makeup, I can get away with just slapping this under my eyes.
Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil (US$105.00)
About 6 months ago, I purchased the Sunday Riley kit from Sephora that contained both Luna and Good Genes. I really enjoyed using both products and do think that they made a difference in my skin. I have combination/oily skin and I daily get build-up of sebum which causes small bumps and clogged pores. I have been really into AHAs and lactic acid based chemical exfoliants and I have been testing out a bunch over the past year or so. I repurchased Good Genes, it was good, but I want sure if I wanted to spend that much money on something I seemed to use up so quickly. I am now testing out an Alpha-H product for a treatment, but I wanted to repurchase the Luna because I miss it. I also think Oils last a lot longer because you only need a little bit, and getting 20% off on Sunday Riley products was a pretty good deal and they are often excluded from discounts on other beauty sites.
FIRST TIME PURCHASES
Ciate London Chloe Morello Beauty Haul Makeup Set (US$49.00)
I have been a fan of Chloe Morello for several years. I love her style and the fact that she seems so carefree. I was really excited when she announced this collaboration with Ciate. I have actually been wanting the liquid lipstick in Pin Up for a few months, but it is always sold out when I go to Sephora! It is literally the only shade of their liquid lipsticks that intrigued me and I have been dying to get it for a while. So, when this makeup set came out and Pin Up was included I knew I needed to have it. The palette looks gorgeous with neutral and purples and the packaging is great. I travel often so I like eye shadow palettes that have a proper mirror so this one checks that box. All the colors look very wearable for everyday and even the little clutch bag looks cute. I though that the price point on this was great, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. I had this item in my cart for a long time and I am glad I was finally able to get it during the 20% discount!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette (US$42.00)
This palette has been EVERYWHERE on social media. I don’t think day goes by without this palette being in my face in Youtube or Instagram. I wasn’t sure whether I really wanted this palette because the pinks and reds seem a bit “intense” and “out there” for my style, but after looking at a bunch of swatches online, I couldn’t get it out of my mind and decided to buy it while I could get it on sale. I hope it is everything I want it to be.
Laura Mercier Layer Up Caviar Stick Eye Color Collection (US$38.00)
I always hear great things about the caviar sticks. I like the idea of stick eye shadows and have owned a few by other brands, but to be honest I never really use them. However, as I get older, I have gotten a bit lazy with my makeup on somedays. Especially when I am not going to really see anyone or if I am just going to the gym (yes, I wear makeup to the gym). I don’t like leaving the house with nothing on my face, so I though these would be something I can just slap on quickly for a little eye definition and be out the door quickly with minimal effort. The colors also looked gorgeous so I am excited to see ifI can actually get use out of them. At the least I can force myself to actively use them as a base for my eyeshadow.
